Tips For Teaching Kindergartners

While many teachers enjoy teaching older children and teens because of their ability to grasp simple concepts, and their ability to read and write, kindergarten can be one of the most difficult grades to teach simply because kindergartners are still in the process of learning a lot of everyday simple skills. However, it doesn't necessarily have to be hard, but it can definitely be fun! Here are some tips and tricks to make your years as a kindergarten teacher fun and enjoyable for everyone!

1. younger children learn best with visuals. Keep your learning materials vibrant and filled with pictures, sounds, and movies to help them grasp colors, words, reading and basic writing.

2. Not every kindergartner is going to be at exactly the same level. Some will have already begun reading, and some are still learning the basics. It's important to keep standards at a certain level, but understand that some will have to work harder than others to meet those standards.

3. Each student has their own belongings they take to school every day. Keep each student's cubby or space their own by using Velcro to place name tags on or inside their cubbies. Then, as they start practicing their writing, they can remove their name tags from their cubbies to learn how to write their name.

4. Children can also learn through music. Many teachers have found that their students can learn to read by learning a popular song and reading the lyrics. They will be able to then sync the lyrics their singing with the words they're reading on the page.
